Kipyegon hits a hattrick of World records as Omanyala clinches maiden Diamond League victory in Monaco

Double World and Olympics champion Faith Kipyegon has broken the long standing One-Mile record in Monaco.

Kipyegon continued her remarkable form by clinching the women’s one-mile world record at the Diamond League.

Kipyegon who has won the Olympic 1500M Gold Medals two times and another double in the world Champion managed to clock 4.07.64 min to carry home the victory setting another world best ahead of the previous record of 4.12.33 min which was set by dutchwoman Sifan Hassan in 2019.

Ciara Mageean came second in an Irish record of 4.14.58 which has placed her fifth on the world best all-time list while Ethiopia’s Freweyni Hailu finished in third position in the race.

In the 100m race, Ferdinand Omanyala finally scooped his first ever diamond league win in a time of 9.92 seconds.

Omanyala edged out the world Under-20 champion Botswana Letsile Tebogo who finished in a time of 9.93 seconds.

The Africa and Commonwealth games champion exhibited some improved acceleration as he got just past 30 meters extinguishing Tebogo’s hopes who had proved to be a threat. Ackeem Blake from Jamaica came in third position completing the race in 10.00 seconds. The world Champion Yohann Blake came forth finishing the race in 10.01 seconds.

Omanyala’s victory will serve to be a massive boost on his confidence as he heads to future competitions that await him in Austria and later on in Budapest.
