Manduku hails Bandari’s Performance against Tunisia’s US Ben Berdane

Bandari’s roller coaster ride in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup, second round, tie got a major boost following their 2-0 win over visiting US Ben Berdane of Algeria in the first leg tie  staged at Kasarani before  a fair crowd.

Following the win, Bandari Managing Director Dr. Arch. Daniel Manduku has hailed the team on behalf of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Board for their sterling performance.

He averred that the achievement has placed the Authority in Africa’s football map and reaffirmed their full support for the team especially now  they will  go back  to  prepare for the return leg away in two weeks’ time.

“I salute the players,Manduku added, and the technical bench for the impressive performance and assure them of our full support in this important continental assignment. In the coming days, I look forward to meeting the team to motivate them and demonstrate our goodwill and support ahead of the return leg on 27/09/2019.

Once again, hongera for the performance that puts the team in a good position to qualify for the next round. I urge Kenyans to rally behind the team as it flies the country’s flag in Africa’s second tier club competition”.

The Tunisia side was seeking to better their remarkable rise after earning promotion to the top flight back in 2015.

The Dockers however huffed and puffed before earning the win. After a barren first half,Yema Mwana gave  Bandari the match opener after 73 minute when he headed home Abdalla Hassan’s  corner that  caught the entire visitors  defence  including Keeper Saber Salah flat-footed.

The visitors will however blame themselves for gifting Bandari several set pieces that saw the dockers add their second goal in the 78th minute.

William Wadri took a free kick that was nodded in by Abdalla Hassan to bring wild cheers from their travelling noisy fans from Mombasa.

Bandari held on for the 2-0 win with the second leg slated for Friday 27th September in Tunisia.
