The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has picked Frida Mokaya Boyani as the new Chief Registrar of the Judiciary. Mokaya replaces Anne Atieno Amadi, whose term ended on 12 January, 2024.
Following Amadi’s exit, JSC began the recruitment process, where forty three applicants showed interest in the job, but only 7 were shortlisted.
On Monday, 19 March, a JSC panel interviewed the shortlisted candidates before settling on Mokaya hours later.
The announcement was made by Chief Justice Martha Koome, via a communique on Tuesday morning.
Candidates who unsuccessfully interviewed for the job are Macharia Rose Wachuka, Ouma Jack Busalile Mwimali, Wambeti Anne Ireri, Ndemo Paul Maina, Kendagor Caroline Jepyegen, and Kandet Kennedy Lenkamai.
Mokaya boasts over 27 years of experience in the courts and has held the position of JSC Registrar in 2012.
She has also served as a Senior Principal Magistrate.
“As the Chief Registrar, Mokaya will serve as the Chief Administrator and accounting officer of the Judiciary. She will also be the secretary to the Judicial Service Commission and the National Council on Administration of Justice,” said Koome.
