Fifa rankings: Harambee Stars drop two places to 107th

The prize of poor performance in the just ended Africa Cup of Nation came calling with Kenya’s Harambee Stars dropping two places to 107th in the latest fifa rankings.

It was a heavy drop for Kenya side, who had climbed three places to 105th on 14 June losing six points. The Sebastien Migne’s charges are now on 1201 points.

The disappointing campaign at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations staged in Egypt between 22 June and 19 July caused the huge fall where they exited the 24-nation contest at group stage.

It was not all rose for Kenya who lost 2-0 to eventual champions Algeria and 3-0 to the runners up Senegal. Stars managed one win, which was a 3-2 victory against neighbours Tanzania in their Pool C matches.

Despite losing in the finals in Egypt, Senegal remains the top-ranked country on the continent but rose two places to 20th globally. The Teranga Lions are followed by Tunisia whose 1-0 defeat at the hands of Senegal in the semis has seen them drop four places to 29th worldwide.

Djamel Belmadi’s Algeria is the biggest climber in Africa as they have moved from 68th to 40th in the world.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles good performance saw them climb 12 places up to 33rd in the world.
