Cleophas Malala, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Secretary General, urged the speakers of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, and the Senate, Amason Kingi, to resign from their party positions. He argued that their continued presence in these roles was preventing the UDA from moving forward and fulfilling its potential. Malala urged the two leaders to step down and allow new, younger leaders to take the reins and steer the party in a new direction. He believes that this would help the UDA better serve the people of Kenya and realise its full potential.

Malala on Monday, March 6 stated that the two leaders are not supposed to participate in party politics because of their capacity as State officials. This is because, as State officials, they are required to serve all Kenyans regardless of their political affiliation.

Moreover, Wetangula is the FORD Kenya party leader while Kingi heads the PAA party. However, given their positions as Senators, they are supposed to represent all Kenyans and not just those within their parties. This is why Malala feels that they should not be involved in party politics.

“Malala’s comments come after FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula called for dissolution of the party. Malala says that Wetangula should resign and allow someone else to lead the party on matters of dissolution, as he is not allowed to contribute to such matters due to his position as a State officer”.

The secretary general of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has called on Senators Moses Wetangula and Hassan Omar to step aside and allow new party leaders to take over. He said that the new leaders should engage the ruling party leadership in the anticipated dissolution of Kenya Kwanza member parties, and fold them into UDA.

The secretary general’s remarks come amid reports that the Kenyan government is planning to dissolve all political parties that are not part of the ruling Jubilee coalition. If this happens, it would leave UDA as the only major opposition party in the country.

Malala was speaking about the recent resignations of the party leaders. She said that they should resign and allow the new party leaders to take their place. She also said that she would try to persuade them to do so.

“These parties are as good as dissolved, it’s only that they have not accepted that they are no longer politically viable.” He added.

Likewise, the UDA secretary general asked the same of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi (ANC party) and Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua (Maendeleo Chap Chap party).

Nonetheless, Cleophas Malala dismissed critics who have labelled him President William Ruto’s hired gun. He said that he is his own man and that he is not influenced by anyone. He added that he is committed to the people of Kenya and will continue to do what is right for them.

The text refers to an individual who is working for William Ruto, and who is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that Ruto is elected president in 2027. This individual is not concerned with what others might think or say about him, as long as he is able to help Ruto succeed. This indicates that the person is dedicated to their cause, and is willing to sacrifice anything else in order to achieve their goal.
