Umeme Bees made it to the semi-finals of the annual Kothbiro football tournament by edging out the well drilled and close neighbours Nyoi fc 1-0 in a thrilling match played at the Ziwani Umeme Sports Grounds.
The solitary goal was scored by Luis Misiko in the 62’min after combining with Evans Mieno.George Clinton and Tusker Fc striker Clyde Senaji.
In what football pundits and fans described as a UEFA champions or AFCON finals, Umeme Bees stung from the first whistle enjoying much of the lions share with their great moves that earned them a round of applause.
Nyoi led by KCB and former AFC Leopards striker Ezekiel Odera were also a joy to watch but could not translate the chances to goals.
Umeme Bees win takes them to their first semi-finals in a little more than a decade. Ironically the team has been playing almost wholly together since they were kids.
Earlier at the same venue,Shaurimoyo based Kingstone trounced Ping from Kawangware 2-0 with goals coming from Chrispin Onyango and Kelwish Walubukha respectively.
The semi-final will be played on Saturday 27th, 3pm at the Ziwani Sports grounds.
Today (Friday) the quarter-final action continues with Allin Jua Kali taking on Napoli in the morning.
In the afternoon in what has been dubbed as the battle of the railway, MASA will take on their cousins Dallas fc from Muthurwa. Kickoff will be at 3pm.
