Harambee stars winger Paul Were is among eight players who have been released by AFC Leopards after their contracts expired at the end of last season.
Others include former Harambee Stars defender David “Cheche” Ochieng, whose was on a short contract of six months, Wayi Yeka, Eric Ndayishimiye, Ivan Sekazza, Marcel Kaheza (loan terminated), Shami Kibwana and former Ushuru midfielder Aziz Okaka.
Club secretary general, Oliver Sikuku, made the announcement and revealed the club had enlisted the services of four players who have already joined the team.
Three others are set to join the club to beef up the areas identified by the technical bench.
Shikanda further revealed the club had received the full team kit last week and were awaiting the arrival of the replicas.
“Once they are here we shall have distribution channels to ensure they reach all our fans across the country. We are currently working on an online pre-order system so that fans can pre-order and pay for the replicas and they will be delivered to them once they are here,” noted Shikanda.
Addressing the media in Nairobi, Shikanda accused the registrar of Sports Rose Wasike of double standards in her duties.
The club boss has called for harmony and understanding, saying the just concluded Annual General Meeting held on 23 June was successful and that so far there was no complaint to warrant for fresh elections.
