Foreign Boxers accuse Kenya Boxing Judges of biased decisions

Tanzania boxer Cosmas Cheka has accused Kenya boxing judges of biased decision meant to promote local boxers and discredit their visitors performance.

A bitter Cheka said he had no problem with the referee but noted with disgust that Kenya Judges were not for the promotion of boxing. He claimed a win for him was the best decision or a draw as the worst decision.

Cheka lost narrowly on unanimous points decision to Nick Makaveli in a super weight bout that was bitterly disputed by fans who felt he deserved a narrow win during the well-attended Osaga Promotions Boxing fight held over the weekend at the Nairobi Charter Hall.

Another bought that raised eyebrow is the first fight of the night pitting Kenya’s Jane Kavulani and Uganda’s Mercy Achayo from Uganda that kept fans on their toes.

Kavulani was declared the winner in the hotly contested Super Bantamweight fight.

“I am very much disappointed by the judges. They were not fair. I am willing to accept losing fairly but not in this manner.Do these judges know that we spend money and time to prepare for a fight? Surely, I didn’t deserve to lose,” Achayo said.

However, India-based, Verbir Singh, admitted defeat saying he lost fairly despite winning the first two rounds.

He lost to Kenya’s George Ohano through a technical knock-out (TKO) barely after three rounds of the Welter bought. Singh started very well pushing his hosts to the canvas with superb jabs but he went out of steam in the third round where he surrendered from Ohano’s heavy blows.

Ndolo thanked Caleb Kuya for promoting boxing in the country through Osaga promotion and called upon other promoters to plunge in and support the sport.
