Police seized 80 kilograms of bhang in an early morning raid at a self-contained house in Mihango Madina B Court, Kayole, Nairobi County.

The operation, which was based on intelligence, led to the discovery of the drugs in a house guarded by two dogs.

According to Njiru Sub County Police Commander Mr. John Owuoth, officers entered the residence after receiving credible information about the illegal activity. The house, located in the heart of the neighborhood, was reportedly being used as a storage point for the illicit substance.

“We acted on intelligence from reliable sources, which led us to this self-contained house,” Owuoth said. “Upon searching the premises, we found 80 kg of bhang packed in bails ready for distribution.”

During the operation, a woman was found inside the house and has been detained for further questioning. Authorities believe she could be linked to the drug operation. The owner of the house, however, was not present at the time of the raid and remains at large. Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the suspect’s capture.

“We are calling on members of the public to share any details that might help us locate the suspect,” Owuoth added. “We will not rest until those behind this illegal trade are brought to justice.”

The raid is part of ongoing efforts by the police to combat the rising drug trade in the sub-county. Owuoth emphasized that drug cartels operating in the area should be on notice, as authorities are determined to put an end to the narcotics trade.

“We will not allow drug cartels to ruin the lives of our youth,” Owuoth warned. “Their days are numbered, and we will continue to intensify operations to eliminate this menace.”

Local residents have expressed relief at the police action, but some are concerned that the drug trade has a firm grip on the area. Authorities have vowed to increase patrols and maintain a close watch on high-risk neighborhoods to prevent the spread of narcotics.

The woman in custody remains under investigation as police continue their efforts to track down the house owner.
