Three suspected robbers are nursing gunshot wounds after being overwhelmed by authorities following a robbery incident at Rabai trading centre. A fourth suspect was killed in a shoot-out after police, who were pursuing the suspects caught up with them and a exchange of fire ensued at Kokotoni area.
The four were fleeing after robbing two shops and escaping with an unknown amount of money from two traders, who separately reported the matter at Rabai Police Station.
“It was reported by […] a wholesaler within Rabai Trading Centre that at about 1115HRS while at his wholesal, he was attacked by four men – two of them were armed, with AK47 rifles and a knife who robbed him of about KSh70,000,” read the OB report seen by Kurunzi.
The robbers fled on a motorcycle towards Mazeras but were derailed at Kokotoni area by a police patrol unit ambush as DCI officers from Rabai were on their trail.
The assailants are reported to have earlier robbed another trader, Mohamed Isak Eden, of a unknown amount of money believed to be part of the KSh168,000 recovered, by the police, from the suspects.
Two AK47 rifles, loaded with 29 and 30 rounds of ammunition respectively were also recovered alongisde a blood-stained knife, a brown jacket and the motorcycle – registration KMEP 859Z.
Juma Mwaipha Karisa, 28, who was riding the motorcycle, was arrested and is helping the police with investigations.
