Idd-ul-Fitr marks the end of the Islamic Holy Month of Ramadhan; a period of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.
In this period, Muslims renew their faith and ask for divine intervention, blessings and protection for themselves, the umma, and the entire World.
“With the declaration of a public holiday of general observance, Kenyans of all faiths will be able to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating that auspicious and Holy Day,” CS Matiangi said in a statement to the media.
