World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) champion, Kofi Kingston, has paid a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.
He is returning to Ghana for the first time in 26 years.
During his visit to the presidency, he presented his WWE belt to the president of the land.
African-Americans with Ghanaian descent are expected to return to the country as a means to boost tourism and ensure that Ghana’s hard-won pan-African reputation is not lost. Kofi said he considers his trip to Ghana as a unique opportunity for him to make a historic visit to Ghana at the height of his wrestling career.
Koffi’s visit is also part of Ghanian government’s “Year of Return” initiative, which is a major landmark marketing campaign targeting the African-American and diaspora market to mark 400 years of the first enslaved Africans arriving in Jamestown, Virginia.
He is the current WWE champion.
