Kisumu All Stars fired up for top flight football promotion

Kisumu All-Stars Football Club will be looking to take inspiration from their superb showing in the 2019 NSL season when they face Thika United on Sunday 9th June during the final clash of the season.

The community team that is co-sponsored by Kisumu County Government will be aiming to rack up their 23rd victory this season. A win in this match will see them earn promotion to the SportPesa premier league in the 2019/2020 season

Kisumu County CEC Ministry of Sports and Tourism Achie Ojany- Alai has lauded the squad for a brilliant season adding that they are a force to reckon with in the country’s sport.

“The players have shone with such brilliance that defied all odds this season. Their spirit, team work and mental strength is on another level, I pray that their dream of joining top flight football comes true” said Achie.

Kisumu All-Stars thumped Green Commandos 4-2 with goals from Erick Otieno, Dismas Amunga and Ian Motanda. The three will be hoping to reciprocate the same in tomorrow’s 2pm clash at Thika stadium.

Kisumu All-stars CEO Nicholas Ochieng’ is optimistic of winning tomorrow’s clash.

“We have prepared quite well for this clash, the players morale is high and we are confident of grabbing some positive results tomorrow”, said Ochieng.

Geoffrey Were will start on the goal line while the top goal scorer this season Ian Motanda will partner with Nelson Amunga in the midfield.

The tactician will adopt the 4-4-2 system that will see strikers Erick Otieno and John Oruko lead the charges for the lakeside outfit.

A win in this match will see the team qualify for a direct promotion to the premier league while a loss will see the team battle it out for play-off position with Posta Rangers.

The team is currently tied on joint second with Nairobi Stima with 77 points, but with a 4 goal advantage after 22 wins, 11 draws and 4 loses.
