Kisii County is the latest to agree a deal with nurses to suspend the strike that had paralysed health services across the country.
The nurses union and the county government reached the agreement on Monday afternoon to halt the strike for two months.
“During a consultative meeting held between the Kisii County Government and the Kenya National Union of Nurses – Kisii Branch… It was agreed that no nurse or union official who participated in the strike will be victimized,” read a statement signed by County Secretary Patrick Lumumba, Health minister Walter Okibo and union officials.
It was further that the nurses will be paid their February salary in full and promotions for the nurses be completed by end of the month.
