Kericho Governor Eric Mutai has survived impeachment after the Senate on Monday voted to stop impeachment trial against the county boss on a technicality.

Mutai argued the Kericho County Assembly failed to achieve the two-thirds threshold for his ouster.

Thirty-four senators voted to uphold the governor’s objection, against 10 who voted to have the impeachment hearing continue.

Governor Mutai’s ouster motion was filed by Sigowet MCA Kiprotich Rogony, accusing the county boss of gross constitutional violations, abuse of office, and misuse of public resources.
