Kenya’s Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry has said it’s ready to host the Africa Climate Summit scheduled to take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre from the 4th to the 6th of next month.
According to the Ministry, the Summit will be Africa’s opportunity to turn the global climate action tide and take leadership to drive the world towards decarbonization on a green growth pathway.
“We look forward to the forthcoming Africa Climate Summit as a platform to showcase Kenya’s immense green growth potential and pitch for enhanced global investment in our country’s e-mobility, green infrastructure and biofuels projects.
Moreso, the media’s active involvement is a critical success factor for the Africa Climate Summit, because of the important role it plays in informing, educating, and providing reliable information on complex subjects such as climate change,” said Soipan Tuya, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry.
In addition, Tuya said as a support for climate action, as a country, they had prioritized the rehabilitation of wetlands as part of the country’s 10-year ecosystem restoration agenda.
The ACS will prioritize green growth and climate finance solutions for Africa and the World, with a focus on abundant renewable energy, green transition minerals, sustainable agriculture and the World’s largest Carbon Sinks in Africa which offer ready and potent global solutions to the current climate crisis.
“Besides consolidating global climate action around climate financing and climate positive development, Africa, will, through the upcoming ACS seek to solidify its standpoint on climate change, and use the Summit as a platform to showcase its immense climate action potential in niche sectors and attract new partnerships in green growth in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and critical minerals among others,” said Tuya.
