Kenya’s Harambee Stars have landed in a tricky group for the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championships set for August this year and co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The tournament previously set to kick off next month was postponed to August after Confederation of African Football technical and infrastructure experts advised that more time is required to ensure that the infrastructure in the three countries is at levels necessary to successfully host CHAN.
In the draw conducted on Wednesday night at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Harambee Stars have been drawn in arguably the ‘group of death’ where they will face the two time champions Morocco (2018 and 2020) and Democratic Republic of Congo ( (2009 AND 2016).
Also in the group are Angola and Zambia.
Co-hosts Tanzania are in pool ‘B’ where they will face Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Madagascar and Mauritania.
Uganda headline pool ‘C’ where they will face off against Niger and two other nations that will seal their slots in the final qualifying rounds.
Defending champions Senegal will face Congo, Nigeria and Sudan in pool ‘D’.
