Kenya Academy of Sports hosts inaugural sports conference in Nairobi

The Kenya Academy of Sports is holding a inaugural sports conference in Nairobi, a three-day convention that desks to explore ways of enhancing its impact on sports development in the country.

Under the theme “Transforming the world through Sports”, delegates will discuss sever themes around sports, including the role of sports academies, leadership in sports, strategic sports planning and appropriate regulatory framework for managing sports, among others.

“This is a very important event because through this we will come up with well informed suggestions by stakeholders on how we, as an academy, can effectively play our role in a rapidly-changing sports world,” KAS CEO Gordon Oluoch told Kurunzi.

The conference, to be officially opened by Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, will also focus on sports for leave and development, the need for a national sports day, development and protection of young athletes and sports as an accelerator of the Big Four agenda.

Other areas will include sports marketing and commercialization, as well as governance in sports. The role of counties in sports development will also be discussed at the event.
