Former President Daniel Moi’s eldest son, Jonathan Toroitich, has died in Nakuru.
The retired Head of State’s press secretary – Lee Njiru confirmed the death of the rally enthusiast but said the family will issue a comprehensive statement tomorrow.
His sibling, Gideon, the Baringo County Senator, described his brother as “amiable, social and down – to – earth and industrious human being”.
“We the family of H.E Mzee Moi confirm the sad news on the passing on of Jonathan Toroitich,” said Gideon in a statement which followed Njiru’s.
“Jonathan will be remembered for his daring exploits in the racing tracks, in muddy and dusty tracks, during this time of Easter.
“We are distraught as family and we ask for your prayers and seek your understanding and indulgence to allow us mourn privately.”
Jonathan, famously known for his passion for rally driving and always competed with Ibrahim Choge as his navigator, was in the limelight a few years back over his alleged rape and murder of Julie Ward.
