Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a blistering attack on President William Ruto and his allies from the Mt. Kenya region, accusing them of betrayal and warning that 2027 will mark their political demise.

In a fiery speech delivered today, Gachagua declared, “2027 is your exit year,” directing his ire at those from the region who continue to support Ruto despite what he perceives as a history of betrayal.

“You sold our community for as little as Ksh500,000,” Gachagua charged, likening the current situation to the colonial era when traitors among the locals would betray the Mau Mau freedom fighters to the British colonizers. “The Mau Mau used to kill traitors before even dealing with the colonizers because the damage caused by betrayal was much worse,” he added.

Gachagua urged the people of Mt. Kenya to identify and vote out the MPs who are strengthening Ruto’s rule at the expense of the region’s interests.

“When the time comes, you know what to do because all the problems we have are because of traitors like them,” he said. “Your first job in 2027 should be to chase away all the traitors so that you can choose leaders who will take care of our community,” he emphasized.

Gachagua also accused Ruto of undermining the Mt. Kenya region’s political influence by attempting to divide the community. “His plans to divide us, starting with Ukambani, which he now refers to as ‘Mount Kenya South,’ will not work,” Gachagua asserted. “We will not allow Ruto’s strategy to isolate Mt. Kenya,” he added.

In a direct challenge to President Ruto, Gachagua declared, “Removing Ruto is a prerequisite to our plans.” He emphasized that the opposition’s primary agenda is to remove Ruto from power, stating, “2027 is your exit year.”

As the political landscape intensifies, all eyes will be on the unfolding dynamics within the UDA and the emerging strategies of the opposition.
