Former National Lands Commission chairman Mohammed Swazuri has been released after the High Court reviewed his bail terms.
Judge Mumbi Ngugi slashed the cash bail from KSh12 million to KSh7m, while the alternative bond was reviewed from the KSh30m slapped by Judge Lawrence Mugambi to KSh15m.
Swazuri, alongside seven others, are facing charges over KSh109m land compensation and has been in police custody for 10 days.
They have denied, among other charges, abuse of office and conspiracy to obtain public funds through false pretence.
Swazuri had opposed Judge Mugambi’s bail, describing it as exorbitant, unreasonably high and in contravention of Article 49 of the constitution.
