Nyamira County Chief of Staff Dennis Onsarigo has officially resigned due to poor working environment.
In a letter addressed to Nyamira County governor Amos Nyaribo, Onsarigo cited several instances of frustrations from the governor stating that his efforts to make peace did not bear any fruits.
“It is with Heavy heart that I tender my resignation from the position of the Chief of Staff office of the governor of Nyamira County. Serving in this capacity has been a privilege and it is without considerable introspection and disappointment that I make this decision,” he said.
Onsarigo stated that there have been deliberate attempts from the governor interfering with his job including reprimanding an accounting officer and not paying some county workers.
He pointed out that some of the workers including drivers and the governor security team have not been paid their salaries for months despite the Controller of Budget releasing the funds.
“I had envisioned an end to the uncomfortable and embarrassing instances where my governor was forced to stop at a petrol station waiting for his official vehicle to be fueled by an accounting officer who could not be reached on phone despite your never ending steps of reprimanding the officers,” he said.
He added that plans to refurbish the office of the governor in order to build modern toilets was sabotaged causing embarrassment to visitors paying visit to the governor’s office.
“The washroom renovations have failed to capture the most essential part of what constitutes a functioning washroom, running water, and toiletries. The washroom can only be utilized as a urinal for men, side- lining women guests and staff,” he expressed.
The former journalist expressed his disappointments saying his proposal of creation of the position of an Office administrator which will be domiciled at the governor’s office was blocked adding that the deliberate strategy hampered service delivery.
“Despite dedication and hard work from our team, it has become clear that the obstacles we face are beyond my immediate control .My continued presence in this role is regrettably not conducive to the progress we all desire,” he noted.
