A sombre mood has engulfed Dudi village, Kwisero Kakamega county  after a one and a half year old girl was defiled and murdered  by an unknown person.

The mother of the deceased left the girl at home and went to the shamba but did not find her upon return until after two days  when the body was found on the roof of the toilet.

Francisca Atieno who is a next door neighbour of the deceased said  she was shocked to see the body on the roof of her toilet as she was going to answer a call of nature. “I saw a lot of flies and on turning back i saw the body of the child on the roof of the latrine,” said francisca.

The area assistant chief Simon Achero has condemned the incident blaming the parents of negligence while demanding an investigation to be done immediately.

”The investigation seems to be moving slow bearing in mind the child’s age, she couldn’t have gotten far so i propose the investigation to begin in the homestead,” said Achero.

In addition, Human Rights Activist Brenda Okusa has condemned the act vehemently and urged women representative Elsie Muhando and Prof. Janet Barasa to address the concerns of rising rape cases in kakamega county while ensuring the defiled children thus far get justice.

The body of the deceased child is currently lying at Yala Hospital’s morgue.
