Khasoko Boys in Bungoma closed after student dies

Khasoko Boys Schools in Bumula constituency was yesterday closed following the untimely death of a student due to an unknown illness.

The student died while receiving treatment at Montgomery referral hospital. Bungoma county health executive Dr. Andrew Malwa says that the post mortem revealed that the student died from perforation in his stomach that led to inflammation of the abdomen.

The county has sent a team to the school to take food and water samples for further testing to determine the cause of infection in the school. The school joins the list of some schools that have had health concerns among its students.

The school principal Daniel Wasambo says the school closure is not indefinite but a measure taken to ease tension and prevent further worst case scenarios.
