Aaron Ramsey: Arsenal boss tips club youth stars to replace midfielder

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has hinted the club may not go shopping for a formidable replacement for Aaron Ramsey in the summer.

Ramsey is set to join Juventus after the conclusion of the 2018/19 season, having signed a pre-contract deal with the Serie A champions.

Given Arsenal’s current ‘financial constraints’, the Premier League side is not expected to hand Emery significant funds to spend during the transfer window, forcing the Spaniard to seek alternatives for Ramsey within Arsenal’s academy.

“We need to use young players like Ramsey who played here when he was young. Every player can take chances and use these chances to improve with us,” Emery said after a 2-1 win over Burnley on Sunday.

“(Joe) Willock and (Eddie) Nketiah played the 90 minutes, they used this time to help us with a good match. It’s our responsibility to give them chances.”

The former Paris Saint-Germain boss has now intimated he is keen for youngsters Willock and Nketiah to fill the void left by Ramsey.

The Gunners failed to seal a Champions League qualification place after finishing fifth in the league with 70 points, just one behind rivals – Spurs.

The London side, however, stand the chance of qualifying for Europe’s elite club competition should they beat Chelsea to the Europa League title.
